Healthy food VS junk food - 53 Karat

Healthy food VS junk food

Published by Eve Karat le

Health food, initially full of benefits, can quickly turn into junk food when poorly assembled. Take the example of a burger. If you start with a wholemeal bread, a lean meat patty or a vegetarian alternative, fresh vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes and onions, you have the foundations of a balanced meal. However, add plenty of melted cheese, sauces high in sugar and fat, and fries on the side, and your healthy meal quickly becomes a concentration of empty calories and additives.

Fast-food burgers illustrate this transformation well. They often use refined white breads, fatty meats, and industrial sauces high in sugar and preservatives. Additionally, portions are often excessive, increasing calorie intake. To avoid these pitfalls, here are some tips: opt for wholemeal or gluten-free bread, use a lean meat patty or a homemade vegetable substitute, and garnish your burger with plenty of fresh vegetables. Prefer homemade sauces based on natural yogurt, avocado or sugar-free mustard. Serve it with grilled vegetables or a salad instead of fries. By following these tips, you'll enjoy a tasty and nutritious burger, without the excess calories and additives.
